2021 order availability and lead-time?

I was told today no SYNC4 in 2021 MY Explorer.....WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!.......I hope my source is wrong on this.

Man that cannot be correct. At the very least, it should be a guaranteed update. Will be extremely disappointing if true though.

Personally I don't like that the Platinum now has the 21" wheels as standard with apparently no option to get the 20". That could very well be a deal-breaker for me if I was shopping for it.

I was so frustrated there was no Sync 4 I didn’t even realize there was no magnetic option. What a disappoint. I think you may be right with the Tahoe or XT6.

I wonder if the 2021 Lincoln may have Sync 4? Looks like Ford may be phasing it in like they did with Sync 3.

Some Ford models had Sync 3 the year before the Explorer received it. I think the Escape was one of them. The Bronco has Sync 4 as mentioned.

For said sync 4 will start with 2021 models but never said all 2021s would get it. As in you will start to see it. I believe by 2022 all will have it if I recall properly.

I just wish they would release any info about which explorer would be capable of upgrading to sync4. Whether it be the 20 or 21 explorer. Given that explorers will most certainly continue to sell more than the new bronco or even Mach e, one would think they would include their latest software to one of their most popular vehicles.

They didn't do it with Sync 3 in the Explorer. In a way, it makes some sense if they are looking to cut down on the possible number of issues Sync 4 may have. Install it in some of their other models first to see how it performs and then add it to a higher selling model. As far as upgrading Sync 3 to 4, I doubt it could be done unless perhaps you might be able to do it the way members with Sync 2 are upgrading to Sync 3. in otherwords, a complete hardware change.

My information is that its all new hardware to support the new software, if they ever have another Police Advisory Board meeting in Dearborn I will get the chance to talk to the Chief Engineer on Explorer and the SYNC engineers so I can get some facts and possibly vent a little about how frustrating their multi media execution plan is.
