New 2024 aviator w/ 6k miles needs a new engine. First issue was a needed spark plug, coil and fuel pump replacement after having warning light appear. a Few hundred miles afte first repair owner noticed that it didnt idle properly although it was subtle. Conclusion was that The vehicle needed a new motor.

Apparently this engine is also in certain Explorers.

Is this common? Has anyone seen this?

Fortunately its covered under warranty but I dont feel great about the brand when this type of failure occurs so early.

Definitely not common. I’ve been around quite a while, and the 3.0L are really stout engines, it’s everything around them that tend to be more problematic.

My 2021 Explorer with the 3.0L engine has this recall regarding intake valve stem fractures.
I'm driving with an egg between my foot and the gas pedal.

That recall for the most part is for the Broncos. I never seen an Explorer have that problem. I wouldn’t take it in to a dealer, only thing they are going to do is rev the crap out of the engine, and if the valve stem goes there they’ll replace it. Nothing different than if you did it yourself.

Hey Frank. What happened to the 2020 Explorer that you said you had FADA issues with (whatever that is)?
I'm guessing the engine replacement will be under Lincoln's warranty.

Peter,
my local deal said that the FADA was not part of their warranty, while they got ford to cover 60% of the $4k repair cost. Mid repair the dealer told me that they also need to replace the Transfer Case. Ask me next week when i get the car back

I have no idea what FADA is.
