20s or 18s

well im tryin to decide if i want to go with 20s or new 18s, where can i get a good deal on a tire/rim package. i dont know what the biggest tire size on either size rim is that i can fit under a stock height explorer, i dont understand what the first two numbers mean, 255 and 55

as in 225/55/20

that is tire size... 225 millimeters wide/55% of 225 millimeters tall sidewall profile/20 rim size in inches

also.... when shopping for wheels dont always go cheap... for the most part, especially with bigger wheels, if you get quality its at a price.....

so what is the biggest 20 inch tire that will fit under a stock height explorer

Biggest in inches is a 31. Some have had rubbing, some have not. You can get creative with a Tortion Twist and Shackles 2" lift, and squeeze 32s with 20s under your ride. But, then the price goes up.

what is the biggest completely depends on what you want.... you can have a huge tire, with little sidewall or a skinny tire with lots of sidewall... its all subjective to each other.....
