2018 Sport
My dealer would not replace the relay as it was working fine. I have very low mileage on this 2018 Sport. The dealer was nice enough to give me the part # for this repair , so I ended up doing it myself.
(1) JU2Z-14474-BC wire circuit kit ( for blue/red and green/orange wires)
(1) KU2Z-14474-EB wire circuit kit (for grey and brown wires)
(1) F8OZ-14N089-AA Relay
( 1) roll RMA solder (Kester 44 63/37 is good) Ford recommends RMA (Rosin Mildly Activated) solder for soldering the wires.
There is a full 13 page supplement online explaining in detail the steps for the repair. It is tedious work. You must pull the BJB battery junction box apart, remove the existing 4 wires on relay R11, cut the terminals off each wire and install pigtail wires that accommodate the larger blades on the new relay.
Ford provides bullet crimps that have a center hole for soldering. I did not uses the crimps but instead soldered the wires together directly. I added two extra layers of heat shrink before using the supplied shrink tubing that also has an adhesive sealer in it.
Probably the hardest part is removing the existing wire terminals and installing the new wire terminals into the junction box. I did not have the terminal removal tool Ford specifies but found a tiny flat blade screwdriver did the trick.
If you want to do it yourself I highly recommend using the 13 page supplement. It has plenty of pictures and will walk you through it.
