i tried searching but every thing that came up was to change out the bulbs to LED and such....

here's my dilema, i have a 3 month old baby, and i take him to the babysitter at 5:30 a.m. well almost every time i open the door to take him out, he wakes up because of the spot light on him from the 2nd row dome light....is there a way to turn off the overhead lights when the doors open....all my previous cars had this option on the over head lights, but i don't see it on the explorer.....i really hope it's something so simple that i've overlooked, but with the new baby, it's limited my time to really "explore" my vehicle.

I think there is a button right next to the headlight knob. Shows light rays shining down.

yeh i tried that and that seems to just turn it on/off while in the vehicle....the lights still turn on when i open the door.

id just take the light bulb out ,yours will still light up to give u some light with out deturbing the baby

well i wish i could just turn them all off,,,, and just use the ambient lighting.

We all do. Even after driving the Ex for a month i'm still impressed by the techonology and displays used. Amazes me that a feature thats been in cars for 20+ years is missing.

Not only does it lack a way to prevent the lights from turning on when entering, there also isnt a way to turn them off when exiting. There are lots of Ex owners out there that cringe when they pull into their driveways at night with a sleeping baby in the 2nd row.

Also makes it tough to watch a drive-in movie with the tailgate open.

Fortunately the savy users of this board found a way to turn them off.
