2wd 6cylinder 2003 explorer - tow capacity

Hello all. I just bought a 2wd 6cylinder 2003 explorer and it has a tiny hitch set up on it (I think its a 1.1/4" inch ball). I was thinking of getting a tiny little trailer for it for my parts and inventory and wondering how much (lbs), if any, i can pull or is it only for bike racks and all?

3500 lbs MAX tow capacity.
The "MAX" means that this is the weight of the trailer (including contents) that you can pull, assuming you have ONLY the driver in the vehicle (no passengers or cargo in the truck. If you put 500 lbs of stuff in the truck, you should only tow a 3000 lbs trailer.
