- 2021 Explorer Limited
I have a 2021 Ford Explorer Limited I purchased used that does not have a hitch. This sticker says towing capacity is 5300 lbs. From what I am reading it is typically only that much if you have the tow package. I assume if I had the tow package I would have a hitch. I do have trailer sway control and tow/haul mode but not sure if those are just standard things?
Here are some additional details
EcoBoost 2.3L I-4 gasoline direct injection, DOHC, variable valve control, intercooled turbo, premium unleaded, engine with 300HP
Drive type: 4x4
4WD type: Intelligent 4WD automatic full-time 4WD
Towing capacity: 5,300 Ibs.
Standard curb weight: 4345 lbs.
Does anyone know if I can just have a hitch installed and about how much I could pull? I know nothing about cars. I emailed ford but didn’t get a response.
