2wd front axle much different?

well my friend has a '87 ranger 2wd and i just happen to have a parts explorer 4x4(1st gen) and i was wondering how difficult it would be swapping the explorer axles into the ranger? would it be to much work to be worth it, or is it easier then i think? your input is greatly appreciated

Frame crossmember under the engine is different.

If you're willing to cut out and swap the 2WD Ranger frame crossmember, it should all then swap over.

Also, the rear Ex 8.8 will need the leafspring mounts relocated.
