2WD low range

I haven't seen this discussed anywhere. The 95 has a vacuum disconnect for the front diff (the only year, I think). If I were to block the vacuum line and put the switch for the transfer case in LOW, would I have 2WD low? Or, does the computer need to see that the front has been switched before it will allow low? Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere nearby to really try it out.

I don't think the computer needs to know as I haven't seen a sensor that detects the front end engagement.

Also the 96 model year has the vacuum disconnect.

Go for it, it shouldn't hurt it.

For extra maneuvarability offroad or for towing heavy loads at a slow speed on the street.
