I'm not sure of the answer here however I do know that the folks who have done the 2wd-4wd conversion with the manual have had to change the output shaft on the transmission to make it work.
I haven't had the time to compare my 4wd A4LD with the 2wd one since the 2wd is still in the vehicle.
