What’s up guys I’m trying to do gears on my ex 92 I have a 3.27 setup I wanna know if a 4.10 with 33’s would be good or just keep the 3.27 with 33s no problem? I been takeing it to the hills mild hill climbing with the stock wheels. Getting new wheels soon. I wanna know as well if I can get a complete assembly or an easy way to do a 4.10?

You don't want to run 33's with 3.27 it will be gutless and hard on your transmission. I have a 5 speed with 31's and I live in Florida where we don't have any hills and I want at least 4.10's!

What’s on your ex? 3.27?
I seen on Craigslist someone selling both gears (3.73) for cheap

I have 3.27 gears as well. If you are going to go to 33's you will want the 4.10 gears. You should go to the junk yard and look for 2nd gen explorers with a D2 axle code on the door sticker. That will give you 4.10 gears a limited slid and disk brakes.

I agree with @JustinGibson. 3.27 with an automatic and 33s are barely okay on flat ground. They will be terrible going up hills and doing any kind of off-roading. When I got my 33s I had 3.27's for a week or so before I could re-gear to 4.10s. With an automatic transmission I had zero power and had a hard time just maintaining speed on the highway (i had to practically floor it to do anything). If you're going to re-gear (33" tires) then I would go with 4.10s at a minimum. I have old 30" tires that I slap on for my yearly state inspection. The 4.10s where not over geared for them so I wouldn't hesitate to get 4.56s with 33s..

Ok so that’s the one with disc brakes the 31 splin. I’m not sure what I got I know they have 10 in drums ex. About the transmission mine is a manual so I don’t have to worry. But your right @DeRocha i don’t know how it would be here in Cali I been doing my research. I need take it apart I know most came with traction loc but my door reads code 41 witch is open 3.27 but my manual says it’s a traction loc

I live in apartments, I could get it done & if I do I’ll post pics but I would like to do my research first before I just jump in to it. Thanks guys

my 92 it’s a 2 door would it be a size proble I haven’t found one like mine here in Cali I’m sure there out their. I haven’t seen any at junkyards a lot of 4 doors but they are wider

The axles are the same for the 4 dr and 2 dr if you find a 4.10 axle from a 2nd gen it is very likely it will be from a 2 door. If it's from a 4 dr I would probably take the leaf springs with it. It will give you some lift over the softer 2 door springs. Do you have a lift to fit the 33's already?

I know the last time I measured it it was 38 or so inches from the ground to the middle/bottom fender or something close to 38 inches I just have f250 seats with the two plastic o-wrings measures about 2 inches i think the passenger might be a little lower. I took it the other they to get it aligned but the guy said it was going to be a little off and it was my steering wheel it’s a little to the left. Not dude because of that or he just didn’t want to mess with it no more. I’m going to take it next time to someone that I know. I still need to get shocks. In the rear just 2-3 inch shackles. I might have to do trimming on the fender and inner liner. When I did the tie rod end it seemed better than after I took it to just aligned in

if your truck is 4wd you have to change front gears too
For 33" tires you really should go 4.56 with an auto trans
