3.5l water pump nightmare - help

2016 explorer xlt
so i replaced the water pump. put it back together - no dice - timing was off, codes up the yin yang. take it back apart, timng chain is loose off a tooth at the crankshaft, way off up top. bought a new chain, cant get the old one off. help

Are you using the camshaft locks? With the chain loose off the bottom sprocket and off the cam sprockets, pull the slack up towards the hood. In this position with some finagling you can work it clear of between the VVT units.

no im not, the cams are way off the marks when the crank is on the money the chain was loose around the water pump

im pretty sure the valves are bent i cant rotate the camshafts
