4 questions...NEED HELP

I've got a few questions about things I've recently noticed about my '06 Limited V8 4x4 and wanted to see if anyone had any explanation or have experienced them.

1. After I get into the boiling hot car, start it up, and crank up the a/c, even though all the little fan speed lights are up, sometimes the fan is completely dead. Then after 5 or so seconds, it finally clicks on and goes to the high setting. Is this normal sometimes?

2. On slow acceleration in 1st gear before switching to 2nd, the engine sounds like a big UPS truck accelerating in 1st. Know what I'm talking about? Does it have something to do with the new 6-spd trans. and is normal?

3. I'm guessing this one is not normal: At right around 2000rpm, there's a noticeable vibration in both the steering wheel and the gas pedal. It's most noticeable in the lower gears and goes away in the higher. What's happening?

4. Any suggestions for plugging an Ipod directly into the factor nav/radio head unit? Someone I talked to suggested that if the HU was satellite radio ready that I might be able to use that aux with a certain cable to plug into the Ipod instead. Didn't know if he is way off or what. What exactly is the connection between satellite radio and the head unit? Is the receiver built in? Might a connection with the Ipod be possible? I saw with the new '07 Ford Edge SUV that uses the exact same nav/radio head unit, they're making a place to plug in your Ipod.

Sorry for all the questions. I feel like I bought a car that I don't know anything about. Thanks for your help though!

1 = Mine does this too... "normal" i would say...
2 = mine does OCCASIONALLY... more like the engine fan is running at a high speed but then goes away, but yes only in 1st gear... but not real often, but more so when it's hot out.
3 = mine does not
4 = no idea on this one, sorry.

Mine does the same

Yes mine did this often. usually when its hot out & when i just start driving it. Problem went away when i reprogrammed the computer with the SCT XCalibrator 2.

Sounds like that is a problem.

I plug mine into the aux input on the DVD player. Don't know if you have one but there are some aftermarket interfaces available. search around like this one: http://peripheralelectronics.com/web/home.asp

I'm also experiencing #3 in my 07 Mountaineer V8 AWD. Any idea what this vibration is?

Thanks.

#2 is your engine struggling not to overheat, btw. Happened to me when I first bought mine in 2011. 2006 radiators had recalls. They leaked... slowly. Bad news if you're just now finding this out, you'll have to pay full freight for a new rad/install. luckily I was covered under an extended warranty.

^2006 radiator recalls, wasn't aware?

My 2007 radiator failed recently.

I'm quite sure that isn't true.

As for the engine noise in first, is it really noisy or what? I know the 6 speed has short gearing in the first gear and I definitely notice it in mine, but it's not super loud or anything. Maybe if you could get an audio clip...though that's probably too much trouble.

May not have been an official recall. But I've read on this forum about, and have obviously had personal experience with radiator failure in my 2006. Seems to be a rather common problem. Google it and you'll see a few testimonies. ...or here's 16 pages worth of complaints:

I experienced the same sound he's describing. Check your coolant level.

I am aware that it is a common problem, but to my knowledge it was never recalled.

Yes common problem. No recall. My 2007 was just at dealer and no open recall work needed to be done.
