Was coming home earlier and lined up next to a 300ZX. It was the new body style and it was a manual. The light turns and I take off fairly slowly, but I hear him rev up, and I take off with him. We complete the turn, and fly up the hill going side by side.

We approach the first turn and I fly around it going about 60 MPH  The body was wallowing around like a pig in a mud bath, but somehow I was able to stay on all 4 wheels and show the 300ZX my tail-lights by the time we reached the top of the hill.

My house was coming up, so I decide to turn off. Flying up the hill is the 300ZX, and he goes flying past me. I decided why not and chased after him.

The light ahead was red, and we line up about to go straight. This time it was on. Bam! Light shines green, and we take off.

The tires scream for traction and I instantly leave him 2 car lenghts behind me. He revs up and begins to pull up to me. I saw a strange car up ahead, and we both slowed down because it might be a cop.

After that, we turned on a smaller side road and began messing with each, passing the other up and stuff. It was really fun to hear that 300ZX wind out, and know that somehow I was able to hang with him...I honestly have no idea how this happened.

As I was about ready to turn off to head back home, I see him turn into an apartment complex, so I give him a thumbs up, and he honks his horn as I pass and gives me a thumb up  Very cool guy, and a very fun night. Power to the XTreme! :redexp: Everybody needs 4.10s on their SOHC.

(To cover my @$$. In my best Mr. Mackey voice.) Streetracing is bad, mkay. OK, enough parenting. Good job on your kill:thumbsup:, but he should have beat you I would think.

It's cool when you run into someone like that. They race because they love to drive, not to prove how big of a jerk they are.

sounds like fun, also sounds like guy didn't know how to drive his car. no offense, but except for Alex and Troll, I've never seen a fast explorer. But being fast isn't always enough, idiot in a fast car = slow car. I'll go home and have a beer for ya(or maybe 6)

:chug: :chug:

when u say new body style.. do u mean the new 350 z? cus they will smoke u..

nice kill, was it turbo'd or what ? my friends stock 300 would tear up any Xplor ive ever seen, besides troll,xbox,expo...... was he just messing with you, making it seem like you were winning ? i know ur X is pretty jumpy off the line, you've told me. but the guy might have not known how to drive his car. i bet if you got over 85 he would have smoked you, like i said, good kill

I think he means the "old" new body style. He did say 300 so I assume that's what he meant.

My father has a '96 300ZX twin turbo. It's his play car. Only drives it once in a while. I'll say this: It's the fastest car I've ever driven and I've driven a lot. Somehow, I don't think he was racing this one. The stock 300ZX is something like 220hp vs 300hp for the turbo. It still seems a bit strange he was able to beat him.

BUT, good job! Just be careful.

Yup, if it was a 300Z turbo and was a later model; he drove like crap. Early 90s or earlier and they weren't that fast, but were still quick for the time.

I don't have a problem taking them off the line, but even the slower 300s can take me from the middle of second gear.

Sorry guys, haven't had a chance to reply. It was the 91-96 300ZX, not the new 350Z, and it was almost definitely an N/A model. I don't know the difference between the two models stylewise, but I never heard a turbo hiss.

The car was a manual, and the guy probably couldn't drive very well. From a 40+ roll, he could take me, but it was at the stoplight that he would lose, and that was probably because he didn't know how to work the clutch very well (Bogged it).

300ZXs can be VERY fast, and I just want to make sure i'm not implying that the Z series machines are slow. I'm just saying that the N/A version can be with a stupid driver ;) I talked to the head of the local Z club here in Central Texas, and he said the 300ZX needs a lot of TLC to run correctly, and this one was probably not taken care of too well.

*shrugs* Still really awesome though :) Sohc Power!

any car can be slow with a bad driver.. give a bad driver a mclauren f1 and you can run faster if he stalls. everyone with the v8 in the X has an auto, and the sohcs are auto as well.. so there really isnt much room for driver error.

True. Dude, you have nothing to apologize for. Glad you had fun with it. That's all matters. We put all this money into our machines so we may as well enjoy it when we can.:redexp:
