Well runs great from a cold start and i will drive it to the store and other places but once the engine is warm the engine wont start get spark and fuel and air and turns over easily but wont kick on.

I have read that the fuel tank sensor is to blame? is this correct?

Also is the stock fuel pump sufficient for a mild 302 build? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge on the rail so i don't know if the pressure is low after it gets warm or what.

Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks again in advance.

I think its more likely that you have an ignition problem rather than a fuel problem. I had the same symptoms with an 89 Ranger and the problem was the ignition coil.

I would check the coil pack secondary resistance and I would have the TFI ignition module checked.

Here is a similar recent thread:

Now the ignition controller is the Grey piece on my distributor?

I checked the ignition and i am getting spark on all cylinders and i also pulled the two front plugs. right and left the dirvers side was dry and looked fine the passengers side was wet and smelled like fuel so im sure im gettin fuel.

Now one thing i dont have connected is a coolant temperature sensor? I had to remove the heater core hard pipes from this engine because the took the hose ends to the rear next to the fire wall. I have just a hose nipple where the hard line was. IS this sensor important for this problem? When i do start it when its cold it take a few trys it fires right up then will die have to feather the gas pedal for about 30 seconds then it will idle.
