I know this topic must be beaten to death. However, being new to this site (which is truly awesome, by the way) and mostly new to serious off roading, I guess I need verification on a couple of things y'all might take for granted.
Such as:
Can I fit 30x9.5's on a stock 96XLT? I think I can......
Torsion bar twist and shackles? Is this ok for the truck? I heard it could eat CV joints, will squeak on every bump, etc etc.
Anyone who did this have any problems down the road? (I kinda need to drive this rig for quite a few years, yet.) Also, if I twist and shackle, I can go to 31's? Do 30's look stupid after the lift? Hey, thanks to all who reply, I'm sure you heard all this before......

Tuggmutton,
30's will fit fine without any lift, 31's should fit without a problem. Don't mess around with twisting the torsion bars, the lift isn't enough to deal with the drawbacks (harsh ride, premature wear on front end components, etc.) I hope this helps.

from what i have read u can fit 31's without rubbin, but is this possible on a 98' V8 Awd Anyone know???????

You'll find that a lot of these standard questions that come up all the time are covered under Explorer FAQ and Explorer Tips. You access these topics from the Main Page.

Hey I have done the torsion lift with the shackles and I fit 32's with out any rubbing and my truck doesnt ride that much worse besides the tires being mud tires , I think it is great, to do my pics will be up on this site in a little bit when rick gets them up .
