31" tire recomendations

[Neuman 93XLT]

Hey everybody.

This summer it's gonna be time to replace the tire on the old explorer. I;m fairly cartain anfter reading all the message boards that 31 inchers will work on the 93 XLT. My Question is can anyone recomend any brands or stores? I'm in college, so cost if a definate issue, Which is the best all around 31" factoring in the price?

I think it really depends on what kind of tires you want. Do you want all terrains, mud terrains, or street tires? I have the BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO's and they are honestly the best tires I have had for all conditions. They weren't as cheap as some brands, but were cheaper than others, like Goodyear. Good luck with you choice.

not been stuck yet{rock's,mud or snow
cost: $78.00 ea. local tire store in CT.

I went with Uncle Les (Les Schwab)he has a new tire called Avon SXT it is an A/T very quite on the road. I live in Oregon where we are not strangers to rainor snow and they perform great. Have not had a chance to check them out in the mud as of yet, but they have a good pattern looks like they wood clean well. Anyway sorry so long winded.

I have TA/KO's on my 91EB,and they are great tires. The KOs are a new version of the ATs. They have better water siping, and large side biters. Keep in mind the AT/KOs have 3-ply side walls, so they ride a little rougher, but I like the durability. Plus they have very little "give" around turns, and I like the way my suspention handles with the tires. I did notice gas mileage go down a little, however I have not re-calibrated anything. They are pretty quiet, too. The tire store (National Tire and Battery) told me they were very high maintenance tires, and that I will need to rotate them often. I have experienced no rubbing whatsoever.

Hi, Neuman 93XLT.

I'm running on 31X10.5R15 BFG Trail T/As, and I'm very happy with them. They are cheaper than the BFG All Terrain T/As, but still pretty good tires (I got the set of 4 for $404.00 at Sam's Club, including mounting, balancing, and insurance).

A 31" fully inflated spare tire don't go all the way up in my truck ('92, 2 doors). I just keep it under inflated so it fits with no problem (I always carry an electrical air pump).
