31's and bearings

I was at Sears today getting an allignment after I put on my f150 spacers and shackles and I mentioned to the associate that I was going to put 31's on eventually. He quickly said that I should definitely get 8 inch wheels because on the stock ones it would wear my bearings really fast and cause major problems. Now if I'm not mistaken, wouldn't a wider wheel put more pressure on the bearings than a stock 15x7. I felt like he was just trying to sell a set of wheels. Am I right?

partially.... it depend on backspacing and such putting more leverage on the bearings.... i currently have 31s on my stock rims and i dont see that they are a problem... they are really not that much bigger than the stockers.....
