if they are 33x12.5x16.5 they are no good for you,, 16.5 rims are a tough find,

lol theres soem rims i found
but have no idea which whould fit i ahve to find put soon becuase he might be sellin gthem to his friend unless i bet his friend to them

i got 2,000 grand saved up
 2000 grand? why are you messing with an explorer with that kinda dough :p:

don't forget you need to regear your axles when you go up in tire size, or else your performance will suffer. tack on another $600 per axle for gears and labor.

A 12.5" wide tire will fit fine on an 8" wheel. buy some cragar soft 8s (cheap) and peruse the local 4x4 forums/craigslist for a deal on used tires. i recently bought 4 33s with about 75% tread for $300. and they came with wheels.

Lastly, I agree with what was said about 16.5" wheels...go with 15s, tires for them are much easier to find. oh and the explorer bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5

lol explorers arent cheap i want i nice xlt haha
yea ive been savin awhile but im preety hell bent and a lifted explorer how bad whuold stock gearing be
600 alot compared to 300 dollers for a lift and like
500 dollers for tires
they guy wants 150 for the 5 tires

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-3426880SL

whuold them work
i just gotta find some rims

Ditto on the no 16.5 since you cant air them down.

If your going to wheel your rig and air down alot you will want 8" rims. 10" rims will make it easier to get the tires to wear correctly.

I personally run 8" rims with 3.75 backspacing but im a 1st gen x so i dont know if you need a slightly different backspacing.

if i get these tires wont i only be able to get 16.5 inch diameter rims

right, so basically...you'd be better off looking for another set of tires.

I cant see if the tires say 16.5 on them since im using the phone to see EF tonight. If they do, I'd pass on the tires.

hmm i dont know i dont think i chould get a better deal on 33s
why is 16.5 worse then 15s?

16.5 rims dont have an internal bead ridge. That means you canr air down. Also, 16.5 is mucj less common so in the future finding tires will be harder and most likely cost you more.

Also 15 rims means you have more sidewall which means a softer ride. Of course that means it wont corner as well.

aay maniak i apprecaite ur wisdom my family dont know much bout cars
id be lost with out this web site
so if i bought them tires i chould fit a rim on them and put them on my truck when im done
if so im going to buy them maybe tommarow
i think 16.5 whuold look better any ways and im pry not gonna b doin 2 much whellin pry just some mud on my uncles farm and quarry around here
i was thinkin about these rims

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/USW-94-6980/?rtype=10

there cool sept the lil emblem id take that off our cover it
it cost 343 bucks to buy 4 rims and get them shipped here
im stoked bought my truck but aint gonna be done till mid summer

remember your bolt pattern is 5x4.5. so those wheels wouldnt work unless they make them in a different pattern.

damn it ima find a 5 4.5 then lol 4.75s to big
hmm ill look tommarow
gettin late im exited bout gettin closer to having this truck been lookin at explorers but none stand out
ill ttyl thnx man

4.75 is the backspacing on that wheel, which im not even sure you could run on an explorer.

well, okay i didn't really take the time to explain, but maybe i should have, 16.5 tires are not so common, the rims have faults to airing down .

i would use search tempest http://www.searchtempest.com/ and type in mud tires or something like that , it will find you a bunch,

you should be able to find rims and tires on there, ,

ok, to put it into one post so you might be able to understand it easily. I'm sure there's more, just compiling everything people have said.

-First of all, if you don't have the truck yet, don't buy anything for it. You might end up finding a truck that already has rims and tires, maybe even stuff done to it. Plus if you buy parts now, that leaves you with less money to get the ex you want.

-Your bolt pattern is 5x4.5 or in metric 5x114.3. Those rims are 8 lug rims. They will not fit. You need to look for a rim that says 5x4.5 or 5x114.3.

-These tires are on a 16.5" rim. 16.5" rims are harder to come buy and will be more expensive to buy then a 15" rim for your truck. 16.5" for a rim is not a common size, so finding a used set will be even harder. If you go on tire rack they don't even have any 16.5" rims that will fit an ex.

-Whenever you need to replace a tire, 16.5" is less common which ends up being more expensive. The most inexpensive rim size, as far as I have seen, is a 15" tire.

-Every 16.5" rim you posted was 8x6.5.

-16.5" rims have no internal bead ridge. So airing down your tires for more traction/bigger foot print will make them more likely to pop off the bead and result in you havong a flat.

-A 16.5" rim/tire combo does not look better then a 15".

-15" rim/tire combo will have more sidewall, better ride, and will absorb the rocks better.

I never knew that...why don't they?

I'd also like to add (no disrespect meant, Slowlyvverot) that while re-gearing may seem necessary to some, not all people think it is. I've been driving my explorer lifted on 33s for years now, never re-geared the stock 3.73s. I'm also a volunteer firefighter and need to get places FAST, many times a week. While the ride is more sluggish, it's really not a big deal and I definitely wouldn't class a post-lift re-gear as a necessity. Save the $1000 (itll be close to that with labor, I believe).

Paraphoe, no disrespect taken. I've just heard overwhelmingly that regearing is the best bang-for-buck mod you can do to your truck. I'm on 31s right now with 3.73s but will be moving to 33s and 4.88s this weekend. so I guess I'll find out firsthand whether that is true or not.
