Don't quote me on this; but I imagine you can since there has been mention of running 32's after just the torsion twist. And there was/is a fella on here with a first-generation Explorer running 33's with just a 3" body lift. He did some trimming though.

They don't make a 3" lift for the newer Explorers. Sorry..

BUT... I'd guess you could run 33's with a Torsion Twist and a body lift, but not sure.

I've heard that most guys use a '98-01 Ranger body lift with a '95-97 steering extension.

You can mod a body lift... I meant that they don't make a 3" Suspension lift. Sorry about that.

Fabtech makes a 2.5 inch 2wd lift for 98+ Rangers and Explorers. Their website says they'll be releasing a 5.5 in. version soon.

Guess I put my foot in my mouth twice now. You're correct... they do make a 2wd kit. :)

I think someone on the board has 3" of lift from just a Torsion Twist. Look in the Suspensions forum for a thread titled "98 lifted - pics" or something like that.

I have the torsion twist/shackle and 2" body lift on my 96. I have all kinds of room. I am actually going to try and remove the body lift this weekend and see if I still have enough clearance for my 33X12.5X15s

Just to chime in

I've got a 98 2wd with the shackles and TT, and I run 31" BFGs. There's a little rubbing ONLY when I have the wheel pinned on turns (like when I'm backing up), but I can only conjecture 32", at most, fitting under a TT 2" lift. Get the 3", and you'll be happy.

Cool, I used the word conjecture in a sentence.

Some of you Explorer owners may already know that bodylifts for 95-01 Explorers are currently unavailable. But wait! All is not lost! Performance Accessories makes a series of 3" bodylifts for the 95-01 Rangers. The Ranger is identical to the Explorer from the cab forward so it appears that these kits will work on Explorers. Well, they do and we have been very successful with installations. Performance Accessories produces two kits, one for 95-97's and one for 98-01's. The main difference with these kits is the steering extension and bumper brackets. The 98-01 kit will work on ALL 95-01 Explorers with the exception of the steering extension on 95-97's. Here's the catch, you need the steering extension from the 95-97 kit for 95-97's, but the 95-97 kit does not have the correct bumper lift brackets so after a few hit and misses we found it easier to order the 98-01 kit and then specify that you need the 95-97 extension. When purchasing your bodylift kit, order the 98-00 kit #883. If you have a 95-97, make sure you exchange the 98-00 steering extension for the 95-97 extension. The extensions are very different and cannot be interchanged so make sure you specify which one you need.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Performance Accessories makes excellent kits and are top of the line. Installation time averages around 8 hrs with help from a few friends. The kit price is around $130 which is the cheapest 3" lift around. If you are looking for some lift and on a budget then this is the way to go.

Sorry to say bud but i got a 4" suspension lift on my X. But again i have a 97 2wd. I don't think 33's will fit though. My 31's leave barely and inch or two of cleaerance in the back of the front fender. I guess with a little trimming i can fit it. Which lift provides more tire clearance, body or suspension?

I was just checking out my clearance... I will definitely have to trim after i take the body lift off. At full lock i only have maybe a 1/2" of clearance between the tire and the trim.

Explorer pro comp does make a 3 inch lift spindle kit for 95-01 2wd explorers i was going to use that and modify the performance accessories body lift kit and then run the 33s i was also probably going to gowith the warrior shackles 1.25" and most likely a Torsion twist at 1.25'' so that would give me around 7.25" inches of lift i do belive i should be able to fit 33s on that much lift dont you

I am running 33x12.5R15s with a 3" body lift and 1/2" TT and warrior shackles. I had to trim about 1/2" off the front and the back of the wheel wells at the bottom. Other than that, my tires don't rub at all. There are a number of people in the NoIEC club with Sports ranging in years from 95 - 01. All of them with 33s have plenty of clearance with just the Body lift and TT.
