33x12.5 on 15x7

SO a 33x12.50 on a 15x7 rim would squeeze and convert as a 32x11.50 would on a 15x8 rim?
A wider tire and narrower rim would not squeeze at all. My bro Gerald wheeled his truck real hard for 2 or 3 years with 33x12.50 on 7" rims with no problems that I ever heard of. The grear Herc tour across the country was on that setup. He went to 35s right before they did the rubicon a couple of years ago. I'm going to put 33x12.50 on my 15x7s unless somebody wants to trade some black rockcrawlers for my deerhooves.

I meant that as a since of rounding off the edges. I know towards the center tread line it'll still be 33"

The tire shop told your brother that because most tire shops wont mount anything other than a stock sized tire on an Explorer due to the Firestone fiasco. Its store policy at many places across the US and has nothing to do with wheel size.
.

Exactly right...thats why we are only allowed mount the stock tire size and only in a AT or HT on the explorers.....its retarded

I have 35x12.50 on 15x8 rock crawlers
I haven't had any problems and I air down to around 12 and 14 or so.
