I have looked all over for decent pictures of the beam pattern of a 35 W DDM hid kit and have had no prevail. I purchased the DDM 35W 5000K HID kit and just installed them. Super easy install, i had to put one of the plugs in "backwards" because of the reversed polarity. So i have decided that i will upload pictures of the beam pattern and the lights once i take pictures tonight. I know that HIDs in the stock housing are not ideal, and i know all of the illegalities of it. Therefore, i would appreciate it if no one used this as an opportunity to bash on me or my decision. The purpose of this thread is strictly to provide fellow members with a good picture of the lights and their beam pattern.

Keep posted for an update later tonight!! :D

please do! I intend on getting that kit too, but im not wasting money on expensive projectors.. :p:

sorry i have been super busy at school guys. i took the pictures. and will upload them when i get a chance. i want to get a better shot of the beam pattern agaisnt a wall and will try to do that tonight. Stay posted! :D

Good stuff, thanks for taking the time to get some pictures for people to see what is going on. If you can, get a couple different distances and try and make some kind of mark to show the height of an average car.

FINALLY uploaded the pictures i took. I plan on taking some more and will try to point out other car locations and take more against a wall. I found the perfect canidate for the photo last night, but didnt snap a picture. Here are a few pictures of 35W DDM hids 5000k in the stock housings. BTW, i had to aim these down a lot for them to not blind people! Make sure you re aim your headlights if you decide to install HIDs in a halogen housing. Also, any modifications that you do to your vehicle are at your own risk.

I will take some better pictures when i get the chance. These will have to do for now. Thanks for the patience everyone! :)

I will do this next, I found the perfect wall for it. Stay posted guys!

Is that hot spot on the left side as bright as it looks in the picture?

Actually, honestly, the first gen housing is producing a lot less artifacts outside the beam space than I would have expected, but those hot spots are something else.....

The hot spot isn't anywhere as bright in person as it looks in the photo. I took a bunch more photos last night. But have yet to put them on my computer. Will do as soon as I can! Thanks for the patience everyone! :)

I run their 55watt 8000k kit but one of my bulbs give a funny pattern not like the other.ps it dont matter how you adjust them, they are BLINDING.i run mine in clear housing also ;)

More pics.

I need to reaim the right beam a little down; because, as you can tell from the picture, it is slightly higher than the left.

I had a 92' with Diamond Cuts and HIDs, the pattern wasnt too bad, but like you said, I had to aim them most of the way down.

In post #5, the last picture on the bottom right, is that low beams? Was that before you aimed them? (Might just be me, but they seem to shine way to high?)

Yes those are the low beams, but the picture is entirely deceiving. I was at a bit of an incline, and the lights were pointed up. Additionally, I think this picture was taken before aiming the lights; however, i am not entirely positive.

Honestly, the artifacts that those bulbs are generating isn't really that bad. Nowhere near what you see on a lot of retrofit bulbs in a lot of halogen housings. I really don't like the hot spots and the distribution of the light though through the main portion of the pattern. (I'm not commenting on the aim, just the distribution of the light through the pattern) Actually, that warm up picture is a great picture to see since it gives you a really good idea of where the light is going before the light gets so bright that it is hard to see exactly what is going on or washing out the picture.

Thanks FIND! I thought that warm up pic was a good idea as well. I agree, the beam pattern is not very unifrom, but for a halogen housing, what can ya expect. I am pleased with how they lite up the road, and i guess thats whats important.

holy glare! I had to lol at the flutes pattern on the wall, I've never seen that one before

Those types of artifacts are very common on headlight housings that are not optically clear. Honestly, that is nowhere near as bad as you see on a lot of vehicles. I mean, the pattern and artifacts are not acceptable in my opinion, but, it is a WHOLE lot better than you see on a lot of headlights with retrofit bulbs.

This is why I always complain so much about retrofit bulbs. What you are seeing above is one of the BEST I have ever seen, and even it is kinda bad.

FIND i am going to take your comment as a complement! So thank you! I know that sticking a HID bulb in a stock housing is not ideal; however, in this case it is not incredibly terrible. I am happy with the results.

A year later and the 40$ HIDs are still working like a charm! DDM is a good buy, seeing how my previous Silverstars only lasted 5 or 6 months.
