So I've spent some time searching for engines and the most available one i can find seems to be the 351w. I've read alot about clearance issues on the second gens. my question however is if the 351 would be an easier fit if the body was lifted 2 or 3 inches. I'm not to familiar with how the motor mounts mount to the frame, but I would assume if i wanted to raise the engine itself up the easiest thing to modify would be the frame mount, basically 2-3in body lift with 2-3 in engine lift.

I put a 351 w in a second gen. Yes the body lift is a big help. Ended up using a front and rear motor plate instead of making motor mounts. But I have seen stock 351 mounts adapted in a ranger. So yes the lift helps.

thank you. I'm just trying to figure out what all of my options are at this point, what I actually wind up doing is going to come down to what kind of drive train I find locally and at what cost. being a sport I am already planning on custom length drive shafts
