flooded carb? dirty carb? did you try pouring gas down the carboator throat? if it fires after that then you have a fuel delivery problem (fuel pump maybe?)

fuel pump works just fine. it could be a dirty carb but im not sure, ill have to check into that and it im sure it isnt flooded... im going to go rip the carb off right now, then im lost again????

Did you check to make sure you have spark. Fuel and spark are the first things I would check.

well what you want to do is pour a lil bit of gas down the throat of it. Or where the Gas line comes in.

If it still doesnt fire, then start checking towards spark...

im not getting spark. i put a new box in and it still wont spark. everything points towards ignition, but i just replaced it. fuel delivery seems to be just fine.

everything points towards ignition, but i just replaced it

you never know...?

well the old one worked fine. i left the engine alone for a month or 2 now im having the problems stated. origanally i was sure it was ignition so i replaced it but it is doing the same thing... i guess it is possible i got a bad apple.

Before re-replacing the ignition, it might be worth trying to trace back from the ignition to see if some relay causing you problems. I'm not sure how much of the original system you still have since you have the 351 but my 94 has had its share of intermittant relay failures.

thanks for the suggestions, i guess im just going to look over ALL the wires. hopefully i can find something

Good thoughts. My 88 Mustang engine didn't start first thing when I installed it in a 1986 Crown Vic P71.
In that car, I didn't have enough constant voltage in the start ignition wire. The voltage would read as full, and drop to three volts when cranking. I didn't immediately find the problem, so I cheated. I installed a relay in that wire, which would trigger with that low three volts. I drove it that way for 75,000 miles.

Check your main ignition wires while cranking. Good luck,
Don

cdw6212r just tried it and they checked out fine, thanks for the suggestion though

Just a thought. Older wiring tends to have more breaks or shorts, and handling them is risky. Good luck,
Don

i turned this problem over to my dad.. i am done playing with it and hopefully he will have it figured out pretty soon
