Hey mcoil go to the main page http://www.explorer4x4.com and go to the bottom where they show rigs that are modified and look at the specs on John Squirechuk's 93 XLT and you should find your answer.
With 9" of lift I would think you could fit 44's Seriously, I'm running 33x12.50s with only 5.5" of lift. I wouldn't think it would be a problem for you to run the Claws. Are you aware that M/T reccomends a minimum width of 10" for rims with their 35x13.50s?
During the swap to the Dana 44 front end my Explorer is going to pick up 2" of lift (total 7.5), I figure there will be some trimming needed to fit the Claws. With 9", I think it's doubtful that you will have to trim. No guarantees just my opinion.
