360 back up camera recall 2020-2023 models - FSA 23S02

I got the same letter. When I'd called before, when I saw the recall on the Ford owner site, they said they didn't have the software for it yet & to wait until we got a letter. Only letter I got was for the suspend.

Really wish they’d fix this. My wife and I can’t take delivery of our leftover ‘22. Flipping out of our ‘21, same spec but gaining pano roof and tow pkg. Its irritating.

Since the DOT considers backup cameras a safety issue they have no choice but to fix every one. I can't believe it has taken this long. Oddly my car has only done this a few times in three years of ownership. "Rear Brake Assist Unavailable... Contact your dealer" is a regular occurrence.

That means that I will likely not be able to complete the purchase of the 2023 Aviator I have on order until this issue with the camera is fixed. The updated delivery date has been moved to June 12th. Although I've never had the issue with my current one, I hope they find the fix soon.

My 22 ST-Line is going back tomorrow for some follow up warranty work, I’m going to ask the dealer if they know anything up to date since the first attempt didn’t work. I’m about fed up with the radio reception that was great and now garbage.

Wish I could just get in for warranty work.
5k miles til I'm out of warranty, but my local dealer only gives loaners if you have a ESP or bought the vehicle there.
Bought 2 trucks from them before [1 new, 1 used] & still own 1 of them.
Can't be without a car for however long it'll take for the short list of items needing attention & they're backed up for months on anything transmission related.

You might want to consider getting an ESP regardless. Loaners are provided at the dealer's cost since Ford does not provide for them.

More news on the recall. Apparently, there is a Hold on sales and shipments.

Yep, I can confirm that. My 2023 Timberline is on hold until the fix is released. I have a 2023 F150 as a loaner.

Finally happened to me today

I'm surprised they aren't shipping them to let the dealers hold them. If it will be a software update, the dealer can flash it and send it.

Filling up the storage lots will take forever to clear them, especially with the rail shortage adding to it.

I'm thinking it isn't just software, they would have had teams working around the clock to fix that bug MONTHS ago, right?
I'm wondering if it isn't something like interference affecting the rear camera's signal, or the camera itself? Supposedly the base Explorers without 360° aren't affected, right?

I haven't been following this in depth. My 2020 had the latest software/recall update done back when it came out in March (or there abouts) and haven't had any issues with it (yet). The camera was replaced once too last year I think.

If it's a camera issue, I'd think it would still be faster to get them shipped to dealers to replace them. This back log of vehicles and them sitting for so long. Typically the ones built the longest get fixed last because of how they are buried in the back.

That's what I've been led to believe.

Just heard that this has been determined to be a hardware issue and the cameras have to be replaced. ETA is September!!
Over 20,000 vehicles are now parked awaiting the fix.😱

Hmm, last week I nailed it!

Bummer, but hopeful. I'm hoping I can get all 4 replaced, as the mirror & grille camera quality on mine is horrible; hazy & not very clear.

I'm trying to buy a 2023 Explorer Timberline and been waiting since June. I've even chatted with Ford online trying to get an update. I was told an estimate of 4th quarter, whatever that means. I'm hoping you are right with September. Frustrated and tired of waiting. I'm sure the ppl who have started a loan and making payments but couldn't take their vehicle home with them are highly pissed. Have you heard anything lately?

Just made an appt for this, along with some other items. Tentatively scheduled for 9/18
First time I've had a dealer recommend another dealer. My convenient dealer is backed up until early/mid October.

Welcome to the Forum.
Haven't heard too much lately although my ETA of September 19th was confirmed by email last week. Another member also received the same date. Not sure if really means anything though. I believe that due to all the undelivered 2023 model vehicles, the 2024 will be a short production model with any changes/refresh held over for the 2025 Explorer.
