360 back up camera recall 2020-2023 models - FSA 23S02

I bought my 23 Timberline at the beginning of June and it is still sitting on the lot. I've been driving a loaner F150 since then.

Finally, some good news. Apparently, the new camera is being produced by Magna and they are working feverously to get them out to the 22,000+ vehicles sitting around so that the Stop ship/sale order can be lifted. The next batch along with the associated software will then go to those owners who already have their vehicles.

I got a call today that my X has the safety recall camera installed and is ready to go.

My wife drove her 2023 Explorer timberline off the lot yesterday. Checked the recall and still shows

It probably never should have been sold. To the best of my knowledge, the actual recall repair has not been released to the public yet. See my post #82 above. How long had the Timberline been sitting on the lot?

Is your one of those that was held up in Chicago? Have you checked the VIN to see if the recall still shows up as needing to be done?

You are probably right. It’s been there a while…few months and there are others we drove before landing on the one we did. Came across this post when I was looking for recall information.

I believe my Explorer received the interm fix only, or at least that what the recall status alludes to. My Explorer was already at the Dealership. They didn't know about the stop sell until i tried to buy it. That was at the beginning of June.

That last one was a waste of everyone's time.
Saw a story online Ford is recalling 462,000 Explorers, testmyspeed omegle th belt Corsair’s and Aviators due to back up camera failure. Mine actually did this last week, screen went blue, sensors quit working also, almost backed into a passing vehicle.

Glamor Shot. I still have to wait for the permanent fix along with everyone else.

Didn't see this posted. Ford finally announced the fix Friday which we already knew. Camera replacements with another software update.

Edit, I see it posted in a new thread.

After placing the order on Oct. 31st, my Aviator finally made it to the dealership this morning and is now waiting for final prep. Recall completed in Chicago. MRSP $86,360. Selling price $78,340. Net lease total is $74,424 which includes the admin fee and wheel locks. Also in the net total was a $1,000 delivery allowance and $2,000 for delivery delay (Ontario residents only) plus $1,500 for Lincoln lease renewal. One lease completed and another about to begin. :)

Had the 360 camera fix done last time it was in for service. Mirror & grille cameras replaced.
Last night when parking, had the infamous blue screen return, only for a second or two, on the backup camera. I think they only did a software update on it when I had it in, I don't think the camera in the liftgate was replaced.
My RO says: 23S23WW Interim Repair: Update IPMB Software
Also says: This Labor Op DOES NOT close the program.

Guessing that means I may need the physical camera replaced.

As far as know, the software update was only made available to dealers for those who had the camera recall and were having issues. It was to be a temporary 'fix' as noted on your RO. The actual fix is a new camera and its associated software. The only thing I don't understand is that I believe you mentioned that the 360 degree camera recall no longer shows for your vehicle. The replacement of the grille and mirror cameras was an additional recall not associated with the rear camera recall.

Correct, separate line items on the RO

Dealers mobile repair came out Friday December 1, and performed the recall repairs, all's good. Took about 20 minutes, then checked for any codes. Told me Oil changes and tire rotations are the same price in the driveway or at the dealer. Same for tire replacement. I'm liken this.

Hi to all and sorry for my bad english. I've bought ford explorer platinum 2020 with 360 camera view system and getting an error with black/blue screen when turning to reverse after some minutes from restart. If i turn reverse directly after restart camera is working fine. I've found that my car is under recall 23S23/23V342, but unfortunately there is no ford dealers in my country.
Can somebody tell me from what parts or software 23s23 recall consists? If you give me part numbers it will be ideal.

Welcome to the Forum.
The recall consists of a new camera and its associated software. No further details have been made available as to part numbers etc. The dealers are installing the required items as they become available to them.

Recall consists of:

Part PB5Z-13234-B ------- Wiring and SOC
Part JL7Z-19G490-F ------- 23S23 Camera

When replacing a camera, it does need to be programmed to the vehicle which a dealer needs to do. A 3rd party mechanic may have access to it through their computers but it is not plug and play, it requires programming.

I purchased a 2023 about 10 months ago. I received the 23S23 recall letter, but the letter stated to only bring it in if I started experiencing the blue screen. Well, it started happening shortly after so I took it in for the recall fix in September '23. I was told they updated the software and a rear-view camera was ordered and would be about a week. 6-weeks later I called the dealership and was told the cameras were on Seed Stock. I believe this means that Ford is replacing all the cameras on the vehicles sitting on lots so they can sell them before correcting the issue on vehicle from customers who have already paid and taken receipt of the vehicle. great Customer Service Ford... NOT!

I do not believe the fix if actually the rear-view camera. My Sync screen will go black or Blue half screen even if I never put it in reverse. Also, when I am in the blue screen situation and go into reverse the camera actually works. As all of you know that are having this issue when in the condition the temp controls can not be read so you don't know what temp you are set on, the navigation does not work, the audio can't be changed except the volume, and none of the other features of the Sync screen are functional. Currently the screen goes into this condition on about 75% of starts making the vehicle non-functional in its current condition.

I'm considering suing Ford to have the vehicle bought back. I'm curious if anyone else has taken this course of action and the outcome?
