This is a little warning for all who go to 360:
The main problem is stolen cars. This year alone around 30 stolen cars have been recovered from out there. Things like the illegal dumping, teenage drinking, gang tagging, and vandalism have contributed as well. The land owners have finally had enough and decided to close it off completely. The entrances are posted now and the applicable laws ( criminal trespass, illegal dumping, etc.) are going to be enforced! this past weekend (July 29th & 30th), the Tarrant County Auto Theft Task Force along with the Ft. Worth PD, the Arlington PD, were there giving out warnings and letting everyone know, But after the 29th & 30th anyone out there is subject to being charged. Like so many other things, the scumbags have ruined it for the rest of us. The people wanting to go "wheelin'" suffer because of the damn criminals. I work for the auto theft task force and am an avid four-wheeler myself. I was out there that weekend (I'd be the apologizing for having to run people out). I do not know what's going to happen from here, But for the time being at least, 360 is closed.
Someone made a post suggesting that maybe we could get permission from the land owners an go out there. That might be a good strategy. Some of the land is privately owned and is for sale, But I'm sure it is expensive, based on hte location. Maybe a lease to a 4WD club or organization could be worked out. The majority of the land belongs to the cities of Ft.Worth, Arlington, and Grand Prairie and right now they do not want to budge. Maybe if things calm down they'll ease up some. It goes without saying that I'm trying to find a LEGAL way that people can still get out there and go four-wheeling, But for right now, it is not an option.
Please do not shoot the messenger, I've been going there for 20 years, and I'm as upset about this thing as anyone.
This is a reprint of a post made on JNT's web site by JP
who is an officer with the task force.
Here is the second part
The latest scoop:
The climate is different this time from the previous "closings"; the 360 property owners want everyone off and they're serious about it. Also, between our unit and FWPD's Zero Tolerance, we can dedicate our time to enforcement out there. So there's going to be lots of officers at different times, instead of a patrol officer or two when they get time from there other work. It's a pain to lose what we've been playing on for all these years. I hate as much as anyone, But its sure not worth going to jail for.
All this was written by JP from the Tarrant County Auto Theft Task Force. I thought it might be a good idea to post it here as some of you were going out to 360 as well as us from JNT.There was also a news story on channels 11 and 4 about this and they stated that the various law enforcement agencies were also going to employ the help of Air One (helicopter).
