A mix of fog and air pollution. Not good on the lungs. That stuff shifts around and builds up during the day. It may be over there in the morning, but it may be some where else later. My latest drive to SLC I could not see downtown from the freeway. And thats only a distance of 1-2 miles at most
The main issue is people often commute 70 miles to Salt Lake City, instead of working and living local. Reason being, its much cheaper housing in Ogden than in Salt Lake City. Sometimes a home in Ogden is up to $100K cheaper than the similar comparison in SLC. Out west commuting over 100 miles is no joke. People from Idaho commute to the local Air Base...and that's generally a 3-4 hour commute.
