Alright, Ive searched but cant find the answer. I have running boards off an 02 limited and I have someone who wants to buy them but he has a 98 XLT. Will they fit?

I guess the best way is to have him just come over and see if it does unless anyone has tried this already. Let me know, thanks!

I don't know. I wouldn't think so, though.

I wouldnt think so either but I thought I might see if anyone has tried it. Id like to sell and get these running boards out of my garage.

Rusty running boards

98 Explorer sport:
Thread got hi-jacked. Thought I would see more posts but anyway...I think the sport looks fine without them but daughter (driver) likes them. On the second set as the first set rusted before warranty ran out and the second set were refinished once. Appears whatever year and part numbers replaced the OEM's will fit but haven't been able to get the straight dope anywhere.

This is one where you ask the parts department if they are compatible. Or you get under there with a flashlight and see if the bolt patterns align and make sure they don't touch the tires. I'd just call parts and ask...

Bad*dawg, now yours rusted because of the snow there?

Running board swap

Yep it's the salt. Not expecting a Four door to fit a sport but for sure the brackets on later model sports look like they are in the same location and there is definetly a difference in the composition or they got away from the steel that has zero rust resistance. Have spoken with a couple dealership parts guys and they were less then helpful.
