Hi, anyone buy a 3rd key/remote? If yes, what was the cost.
Thanks
Here is a link to the Ford Parts store, where you can place an order and receive a quote from your dealer instantly. Like Bill stated, you may need all active keys present at time of activation for the 3rd key.

Yes, I bought a 3rd smart key for the Limited with the remote start functionality. It was about $140 plus another $30 for the dealership to program the 3rd key to the truck. They will need all 3 keys to do this properly.
I'm interested in a third key as well, but aren't the programming instructions in the Owners Guide? Do you need a dealer to do this?
Well to make sure I'm not losing my mind, I double checked this. I looked at the Owners Guide (3rd Printing) that I downloaded from the FLMowner.com website.
On page 155 are the instructions for programming the spare IA Key, and it does state that two other keys need to be present for this to work. If you don't have two other keys, then you do have to take it to a dealer.
So, I think that the only thing that the dealer really needs to do is to cut the spare "mechanical key blade" that's stored inside of the fob.
Still would like to know what the part number for the uncut fob (with transmitter) is, though.
My dealer tried to sell me a 3rd key (spare) for $120. Instead, I bought one on ebay for $8, had it cut at Ace for free, programmed it, and it works perfectly as a spare, all for $8!
Thanks for the info bkool. Who cut the new key for you? Can you go to a big box hardware store or do you need a locksmith? Did they cut it from the original key/remote?

Bill, I agree 100%. There definitely needs to be more cross referencing. There have been many times that I gave up on the index and just started flipping through the book. Now I'm basing that on the first printing so I don't know if things have improved since then.Excellent, you are correct. Good to know. When I needed this, I could not find it. The Owner's Manual is pretty good, but the 'table of contents/index' sucks.
