Sounds good.

sounds good dan keep up good work how many inch are the tips

I think they are just 2.25 or 2.5" but the are just plain slash cut stainless tips. I plan on getting better clips when I get a better camera.

Hey,

Next week im gonna get a true dual 2.25" exhaust done from the headers back (gonna lose the cat's too).
I'm gonna order the mufflers today, they are custom made freeflow mufflers.
I have to give them some dimensions (lenght, outer diameter) of the mufflers, so what would be the best dimensions to go for?
Most mufflers they make are about 40 cm (15.75") in lenght, would this be too long? i don't want it to be quiet, rather loud and as deep as possible.
Which outer diameter would be preferred?

Help is appreciated.

I don't know about by you, but you'l fail instantly if you don't have cats in NJ, so i would suggest getting some type of "show cat" or something if you're determined to not have cats. and as far as the 40cm muffler, i think most aftermarket mufflers, are 19-22 inches long for our stock position, including the inlet and outlet pipes, so if you have a shorter muffler, then you should be fine you'll just have to have more actual piping.

Good luck
Justin

Edit: something that would help more would be where are the mufflers going to be located. IE: before or after the axle, and also Cherrybomb.com, shows their dimensions of their mufflers, and common applications of those mufflers to give you a better idea of the size and shape of the muffler. Goodluck.

I place the cats back before the CO test.
And take em off after.
By using flanges.

hey i'm looking at a flowmaster super 40 dual in/dual out for my 2000 X sport 4.0sohc with factory dual cats.

the last chambered muffler i had a TERRIBLE drone. can anyone give me a guesstimate on how bad interior drone might be with the flowmaster super 40?

like on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being stock and 10 being ears bleeding/head throbbing

well that's what i have currently on my ex, and mine drones. pretty bad, i'm gonna say 6-7, but keep in mind that i also have it dumped before the axle so it's reverbing under the cab, and is pretty bad. i'm running tails this summer when i have more time and money. so that will improve the noise a bit.

alright then.... i bet those tailpipes will help considerably

just to give you an idea.... the last chambered muffler i ran droned worse with tailpipes on it than my current exhaust (which is just a pair of glasspacks dumped before the axle). i would've given it an 8 maybe 9 on my 1-10 scale. i just wanted to see other ppl's experience with the Super 40 before i decided to fall in love with the chambered muffler sound again...

It's not bad driving down the high way, if i turn my stereo off i can hold a conversation, and i don't get a headache, but if i put my stereo up a little i can't hear the exhaust. my only complaint is 3000rpms, it's the worst right there. so when i climb hills at speed, or if i'm doing bout a 100 then it get's annoying.

well that makes me feel a little better, especially since i'll have tailpipes on mine too... before, i couldnt even hold a conversation going down the highway without having to yell... even since i put the glasspacks on i still have to close the windows and speak up a bit.

3000 shouldnt be a bad rpm for me.... i usually dont cruise around there unless i'm doing around 90-95 (my tires are slightly shorter than stock) and if i'm going that fast then chances are i WANNA hear the roaring exhaust :D

anyway, thank you for you input! you may have just helped me decide on my new exhaust! do you think running 2" pipes from the cats back will reduce drone any?

I will have to deffer to the exhaust experts on that one I just know that with no muffler it was terrible with the super forty dumped its bearable I'm hoping with tails it will make it more bearable inzside because the exhaust won't be bouncing off the ground back to the cab if that doesn't make it better I'll probably dyno mat the floor good luck on your muffler choice

yes i have also looked into sound deadening material, i think if it comes to that, i'll go with one of the eDead products.
thank you very much for the input! i think i've made my mind up on the Super 40!

I personally run the super 40 and I love it. I have no cats, offroad 2.5" Y pipe, and a single 2.5" pipe running to the rear. Its loud, but not too loud. Very deep and sounds great! Its way better from the Original 40 series muffler I had on prior. Just a side note- adding tails will tone the exhaust down a lot. I used to dump mine and it was LOUD

With the chamber muffler discussion going on- has anyone checked out spintechs? Apparently they are popular on mustangs when they do side exhaust and on GTO's. I saw a few clips on youtube on the v6 stangs and they sound pretty dang good. See below for my email to the spintech company. Read bottom to top

"Our Sportsman series will be a little quieter than the 40's, our Pro Streets will
be louder. I would lean towards the Sportsman

This is Brooner's exhaust clip of his SLP exhaust

will removing your cats trip your oxygen sensors? what can be done about this? I want more sound out of my exhaust and have considered "gutting" my cats or just cutting them out.. any suggestions or a cat delete pipe I can buy? thanks a bunch

anyone with an answer on this? i'm thinking about removing the back cats for sure.
