im tryin to figure out best way to do it.. i dont want to have to put too much into it.. but if its best i will..

i was thinking all rods, bearings, lifters, cam, intake, headers..

For rebuilding, I would do at least the following

Rocker arm assemblies and push rods (from deltacam)
Hone the block and use new rings
new water pump
new oil pump
send the injectors off to be cleaned
timing chain
water pump
fuel pressure regulator
heads checked and 3 angle valve job

If you have the time/money
replace the cam/cam bearings
Have a machine shop line bore the block BUT this means you MIGHT need new pistons
new lifters (not cheap)
maybe upgrade the cam to a 410 (410 and 422 cams are the only options, you'll need to search on that, I have no good info)

If your going for more power, read the threads about using a 95tm heads on the 91-94 motors.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head right now.

oh yea, I don't know where that 93 motor came from, but the 93 may be missing EGR and a CAM sensor, which you will need to bring over from the 94 when you install the 93 in the 94.

thanks maniak..

im going new injectors from venom. i was thinking 422 cam.
ill definetly look into the heads.

the lifters went out on the motor and the guy bought the parts to fix it, lifters and somthing else.. ill have to go look... i brought it home and stuck it in the barn.. picked it up for $300.

95tm heads you will have to use 90+ gas but works great with the 422.also put the new mellings high flow oil pump in,it works great for these oil starved motors

i am also rebuilding a 4.0 for my 91 i have a few questions my self which size piston from summit should i use. the other question ill search before i ask? when i measured my cylanders they came out to be around 3.945 is that about right

Are you having it bored or honed at all? I will have to check but I think its the 50mm,thats just off memory, i think, call summit or ask your machinist and ill double check.

yea i want to bore it over im just trying to figure out what size i need that wont make the walls to thin

i thought about boreing it out.. but i dont know how much it will help or cost..

if ur gona rebuild the motor its always a good idea to bore over just a little, the pistons wont cost much more then buying stock size pistons, the only difference will be what your local machine shop charges to bore it out, mine charges $12.50 a cylinder.

unless you are going to be putting in a stroker kit i wouldn't go over .030 and the 90 to 94 blocks from what i hear can be bored more than a 95+ block.you can also use a SOHC oil pan as a main stud girdle/bottom end support.15107-02-6 h570p 50mm is the part number of the pistons i used and my motor was bored .020 over and they were the 17.5cc(first gen pistons).stock bore is 3.950 my final bore was 3.971

cool ill go with the 3.972 from summit. and you said i could use a sohc oil pan?

You don't have to unless you plan on stroking it or turbo or nos

what type of pistons should i get? i remember reading something about dished or flat??

Depends on what heads you use and what compression you want to run.

im gunna run 95 head, 422 cam, bore .020 over.

do you know where i can pick up a 95 head?
and i was thinking about porting the head..

What compression are you wanting to run and how much porting are you plan on doing?remember the head has to be machined to fit the 988 dual springs and also you need to run SI one piece valves.the lower intake can be port matched also, lots to gain.the reason I say all that is because all that should be done before you spent a lot on porting the head and if you still plan on doing a lot of porting in the head you want to use 98tm heads they have rounder exhaust port witch is better for porting, same cc head though.the 95tm flow better in stock form.use engine quest for either one they are the only people that sell true 95tm heads.

i was looking for 10:1 or 10.5:1 compression..

im not sure if im even gunna port it.. im just tryin to get some info on it.. if i do port, it prolly wont be much..

If you haven't read Creager's 4.0 rebuild, it's got some good info in it. It's a sticky in this section

also.. what can i do to the tranny and t-case??
i have A4LD and borg warner 13-54.
i have already boiled all the fluid out of thr tranny once..

I would just use engine quest true 95tm heads,I don't think you can buy them direct but they sell them on ebay, they are good heads and will give close to 10:1 with first gen pistons, part number I gave you earlier.you can have them shaved to increast to 10:5ish its about 3 cc need to come out the combustion chamber.for trannys you can buy a built a4ld online,or do a franklnberry trans with all HD parts or a chevy700r4 will go in but whatever you do you will need a large aftermarket trans cooler.a efan would help power and temps search my thread HHR fan I love it and was cheap.
