4.0 Sohc compatibility question

Will the 4.0 sohc from a 99 explorer sport work in a 2002 explorer with the 4.0 sohc? Only asking because I acquired a clean 2002 with blown engine to replace my great running low mileage but rotted away 99 sport. Was thinking if the older engine will work can make one good one out of the 2 vehicles.

Yep, you just need to strip it to a long block and swap all the hardware over from the original.
