Doing a new dual exhaust on my 4.0 sohc. Does anyone see any benefit of merging and then splitting the left and right pipes. I've heard that there is a small gain in low end torque by doing this??

thanks

Gary

why duals?

I suspect you will lose engine low speed torque by going to dual exhausts whether you incorporate an X pipe, H pipe or no equalizer pipe. Also, the total weight of a dual exhaust system will be more than a single pipe system. However, if your SOHC V6/5R55E is going into the 1935 Dodge you may be more interested in looks than performance. An equalizer connection before the mufflers should reduce the harsh noise some. For about $900 I was able to plan and implement a 49 state EPA compliant high flow single 3 inch diameter exhaust system without losing engine low speed torque: Wastegate Exhaust System?
