Im just thinking aloud here and wanted to know all of yours opinions.. I have a 1999 Explorer XLT in which is in good condition but is running on 207,000 on the original engine and its still running strong but sooner or later its going to go. Anyway it just popped in my mind to drop a 302 v8 i have in my garage into it of which i have a c5 transmission.. the engine is carburetor operated so i would really have to mess with the ecu or anything would I?? or would it mess up the rest of the vehichle switching it over to this.. Obviously new motor mounts and what not would have to be purchased but what is the real extent of this swap?? and yes my explrer is 4 wheel drive but i would be willing to get rid of that because i never use it or need it so it just adds weight..

i was just wondering how many times it has been done, what the extent of it is, and how much it would put me back..

Obviously if this isnt effective at all or is a huge process it would pay just to buy a 2wd explorer with the v8 in it already then just work with that..

i have a bit of knowledge with engines and what not as i have just finished rebuilding another 302 for my for maverick but im not by any means a genious or anything

Anyways thanks in advance and i look forward to seeing the response haha
