4.6 GT throttle body

So what options ARE there for an OHV guy like myself? I"ve built the Cold air, but a TB sure would be nice to replace that dinky thing, cept it's such a pain to try and route that initial corner. Maybe if the TB was a bit shorter as well? I was going to try and put on my old stang 5.0 on, but it's definatly not a direct replacement, and putting a plate or something similar in there would just make it more of a hassle with the intake.

A downside I have found with both the BBK and the Ford is that my cruise control seems a bit whacked and I haven't spent much time trying to fix. When I set the speed I want to cruise at, it doesn't seem to hold that speed very well. When going up hills, it definitely drops a bit too. I'm still working on figuring out how to resolve that, but I don't use cruise much anyhow so it hasn't been a high priority item. If anyone has any theories as to why my cruise is wonky now, I'd love to hear them.

Celly, got the same problem. If i remember right, we got the same TB off ebay. I havent worked to fix mine yet, but im pretty sure its just slack in the cable. The throttle cable for my gas pedal was pretty slack after i did the mod, so I would assume the cruise control cable is slack too. I believe this is due to the bracket on the mustang TB being alittle smaller than the stock TB. Fixing the slack in the gas pedal was pretty easy, but I have no idea on the cruise control. I'm sure there's a way to do it, I just havent really looked since I dont use it often. Please let me know if you find a solution.

No solution yet, but I think it does have to do with the slack as well. I did a road trip this weekend. Cruise worked fairly well on the flats, although a bit of lag noted when setting cruising speed. It held speed fairly well on descents, but dropped off around 5-10 mph on ascents.

I had a BBK TB, then switched to Ford Racing. Had same issue with both. Aldive hasn't had the same problem, but then again he probably doesn't have the magnitude of climbs we have out here in the shadow of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I spent the weekend in Waterton Park this weekend (just across the line from Glacier in Montana).

Any updates?

Lots.

As you know, I scored a 5.0 equipped Explorer instead (about a year ago) and sold the TB to Monmix (about 6 months ago). I was never able to solve the cruise issue. To test a theory, just before I sold the Sport I put the OEM TB back on and tested the cruise control in the same sections of highway I had prioblems with using the aftermarket TBs. Worked 100% as it should. Both the BBK and Ford Racing TBs gave me issues. None noted with OEM. TB was definitely the common denominator with the issues I faced. I seem to recall someone else coming up with a fix for how to get it back to normal, but given that I had already sold the Sport, I didn't take notice nor did I care anymore. The odds of me owning a SOHC equipped 2nd gen Ex (as much as I like them) are slim to none. I'm hooked on V8. :D
