4.6L Lifter Tick

Hey guys,

My trusty v8 has a lifter tick on a cold start up. It goes away after 2 - 3 min of running, which is why im pretty sure its the lifter and not the timing chain tensioner. Anyway, have you guys found it worthwhile to replace the lifters when this occurs?

Besides the noise, is there any benefit/detriment to replacing/not replacing the lifters once the tick starts?

Have you tried a different brand of oil?

I had a 04 Expedition with the 5.4 with the same thing.

Swapped brands and used the same weight. Problem solved.

Don't know why....
