4 Low doesn't work

I lost my 4 low at some point. I have the '91 with original shift motor. It goes into and out of 4 high no problems, but pressing the 4 low button does nothing, no click, no blinking light, as if the button had never been depressed. Going to check the button itself first, where else should I start tracking it down?

Runderwo,
put that truck on a curb and pull that shift motor out and crack it open. That is always your most likely culprit. there's a whole bunch of info on that project somewhere on this forum, I can't explain how to find stuff, i generally just stumble onto it my self. watch for little peices of plastic when you open up the gears cover.

Fixing that motor is pretty easy for a decent mechanic and pretty satisfying for an adventurous beginer. after the third time, i could have mine out rebuilt and back in in 20 minutes. about an hour and a half the first time. I bet 75% of the people on this site have done this rebuild.

Also that click can be a pretty faint sound so you can only hear it with the engine off, key on while shifting it.

Get that four lo fixed so you can get out there and break something bigger!

just got on this forum and found what I wanted to find in less than 10 mins thanks guys
