4 low stuck on

hi members i am sorry but i am in some what of a bind/emergency my 4 low is stuck on and i cannot get it to disengage it is our only vehicle left since my wife car car stolen on the 26th of nov and i got laid off the day before thanks giving...i know iknow im reaching right lol....
anyways if some one can help me with my problem i would greatly appreciate it...thank you and its clad to be back in here.....jay

It is in neutral, stopped with the brake in while trying to switch, right?

You could try a gentle tap with a hammer on the shift motor, It worked for me. If it does you may want to look into a shift motor rebuild.

I had mine locked in 4low once, I reset the computer, and tried to switch, and it switched right away. Never had another problem. For me it was just a computer glitch.

There is a box in the rear, take the cover off and hit the white button once, wait for a red light to click on, then try to get it out of 4 low

are you talking in the rear drivers side....the shift control module?

When reporting a problem please be as specific as possible. It will greatly help us in trying to figure out the problem. Also when members post suggestions please indicate in your subsequent post if you have tried them or not; Otherwise it appears you are ignoring their suggestions and they may stop giving them.

How long have you owned the vehicle? When you indicate you cannot get it out of 4L, how did it get into 4L? Did 4x4 (high & Low) work before and now will not shift out of 4Low?

The T-Case is shifted via the electronic shift motor (See shift motor tread for lots of pics and info) If the shift motor (pic1) fails for any reason you can always remove it and use pliers to turn the selector shaft (pic2) (clockwise) back to 4H and then 2H.

Yeah rear driver side. take off the cover and push the white button then go see if you can get it out

i did that jbanther but it didnt work so i did what drocha said and took the shift motor off and turned the shifter back into 2 hi....had to have the truck running and in neutral tho so if anyone else has the problem please remember that...
