4 WD Not Working ???

I am an owner of a 1998 Explorer XLT.

Many problems have occured during the past months.

Now I cant get the 4WD to work , the lamp goes on and the engine works but nothing happends ???

Tips and where to search ????

Luckily I've never had any trouble with mine"knock on wood" but I remember see a thread last night,1/23, where somebody said something about pressure washing the top of the transfer..
