Hi, hope I can get some advice on what I can do about this. Last August, I had a new transmission installed on my 2003 Explorer. It's been a mild winter here in the NYC area, but I encountered my first bit of snowy weather last weekend and noticed that my 4-wheel drive does not engage. I first noticed it because from stop, I accelerated on icy surface and the truck fishtailed. I tried to engage the 4-wheel drive manually by pressing the 4WD High button, but the indicator light didn't come on and the problem persisted. The 4WD was working before I had the new transmission installed. I have no knowledge of the mechanical workings of cars. Could something have happened during the installation of the new transmission? I'm wondering whether I have a case, because I feel as if the 4WD operation should have been tested. Thanks for any advice.
