My 4WD will engage by itself driving down the road or just parked in the carport. I can get it to disengage by shifting to 4LOW then back to AUTO while in nuetral with truck running or just key turned on. It doesn't drive the same as if I just put it in the 4HIGH position, it seems to be in 4LOW but without the low gearing, I don't know if that's even possible. I'm new to this 4X4 stuff and I'm not sure exactly how the front axle plays into how the 4wd engages.
I just changed the transfer case fluid, it was nasty, and took a look at the shift motor but I did'nt take it apart, seems clean and in good condition on the outside and it seems to operate fine so suspect that's not my problem anyway. Guess I'll see if that helped, any other ideas of stuff that could be the cause? Thank you for any help.
