4R55E transmission rebuilding problem.

I am rebuilding a 4R55E transmission from my 1998 Explorer 4WD 4.0L. I bought a rebuild kit for it that only requires 4 steel & 4 friction clutches (for a 3.0L engine). My original assembly had 5 of each. Will it be a problem if I continue with this kit?

Your post was moved into its own thread in the transmission section. You need a 4R55E kit. The kit you have is for the 4R44E.

The kit I have is for a 4R55E not a 4R44E. But it says 3.0L. Mine is a 4.0L.

The 4R44E is used with the 3.0L, and the 4R55E is used with the 4.0L.
