4wd drop kits

anyone know where to get a drop kit for a 93 4wd 4door X

It is impossible to lower the early model 4wd. Explorer more than 1-1.5". The front differential will not clear the crossmember.

ARGH why would anyone want to drop a 4x4? What would the purpose of the 4x4 be if it can barely get over speed bumps?

I wanted to drop it because I want it to handle but I still want to be able to drive around during the NH winter without getting stuck

Oh ok.
Sorry me being from Texas and never seeing snow on roads in my life, I wasn't thinking that winter up north needs 4x4.

You would run in to a lot of problems doing this. I have talked about this Before and that it is not a good idea to do this on a 91-94 model any year after that is ok. The Best I ever came up with on lowering a 91-94 is to convert it to 2wd. Do a search on the subject. I know why it would be a problem cause I am the only one on the Board that has converted an Explorer from 2wd to 4wd.

You can still achieve better handling without having to lower it. What about new shocks? Those are a huge improvement in handling over the stock ones. Stiffer anti-bars also make a big difference. You're just looking for trouble by trying to lower it.

I was also considering lowering my X, but I decided to go with shocks and sway bars instead. I got edelbrocks and my sway bars from explorer express. I have been very impressed with the handling. it is about five times better than stock.
