My 4WD went out (probably from lack of use) but now I need it to work. I took it to a mechanic and he said the problem was in the transfer case itself, but he couldn't repair it because he needed special testing equipment. So I went to a dealer (don't laugh). They told me the electronics where out, the button on the dash and the computer in the back near the wheel well.
The quote was way too high so I went to the nearest pick and pull and got the exact parts that they were planning to replace themselves. It didn't work.
If the problem is in the transfer case, what should I do? I was thinking of replacing the shift motor. Is that a common problem that the shift motor goes out. Does anyone know any diagnostic tricks or anything.
