i think i heard that if you take the negative battery cable off for a bit then put it back on will help. i guess the shift motor for low range can lose what position it is in sometimes.

ive tryed that didnt help. i was told it could be the bump stop

ill try that. could the bottom have anything to do with it

I just reread what you have posted...My understanding is this. You are stuck in 4WL. With the truck in neutral and with your foot on the brake, you push the 4WD button on the dash and nothing happens. When you push the button, can you hear anything make a noise? Like the shift motor itself or a click from the 4WD module in the rear of the cab? Yes it could be the switch on the dash, but in my experience, it is rare they go bad.

havent pulled it yet. how do you shift it manually?

What have you done to troubleshoot your problem? Did you read the link that Cbyersh37 posted for you (post #10 in this thread)? Have you used the search feature on this site? I would really like to help you, but you are making it really difficult to do so. One line posts don't help at all.

There are a number of things that could cause 4WD problems. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but If you are not mechanically inclined or willing to do some research, my best advice is this; take your Explorer to a shop and bring your check book.

I just used the search feature and came up with this

and this

There are many, many more threads that will help you. Good Luck.

ive tested the 4wd module. had my brother sit by the module. it didnt make any noise. unpluged it and reset it with the button. tryed again still no noise.
