Ok I have a '96 sport. My switch says 2wd/4auto/4lo When I get a locker on the front of my vehicle, will I ever need to use the 4auto? Will all I have is 2hi and 4lo? Or is the 4auto like a 4hi? Thanks for any input.

i could be wrong but i believe 4auto is like 4hi, just it moves more power to the front as the wheels need

ok so it will be ok to use this off-road if the front of my vehicle is locked?

i assume so, i guess in theory, ive got a '96 aswell and putting a locker up front has crossed my mind

i may be wrong but i think you will not be able to use 4 auto. 4 auto pulses power to the front there is not a steady flow of power like there would be in 4hi.

I have the Powertrax No-Slip in my front , and it works great!!! The only thing that will change , is that both wheels will have traction, because as of now all ya have is open up there, so the wheel that spins gets all the power! 4 auto is nothing more then 4 hi, except the amount of power is split as needed. This means when you engage it , it may be a 80/ 20 split. When you slip the rear tires, it goes 50/50. All the while , with a locker, both wheels will have power.
I will say this though, plan a afternoon installing any locker up there, and try like heck to get a lift, as it is near impossible to do it on jack stands. Email me , if you want a blow by blow description. The entire axel has to come off the truck, and the passenger side of the axel needs taken appart at the shift fork.

I'd never use this type of a setup on road. If you are going to go thru the trouble of getting a locker for the front, I'd swap in a manual t-case with real 4wd. It would work a lot better than the all wheel drive.

BAYDOG- I plan on getting the superlift soon, and doing a SOA in rear and a TT up front to even it out. I have purchased my new gears allready, and now I am looking into lockers. I will have the professionally installed when they do the gears.
