4wd question. Please help!!!

I have a 97 explorer that seems to be stuck in 4wd. There are no dash lights on that indicate that its is 4wd but it is. I have no idea where to even begin with. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

This is simple enough to troubleshoot. The first step is to unplug the connector on the transfer case and take it for a drive. If the 4x4 feeling persists, then you have a mechanical issue with the transfer case. If the 4wd feeling ceases by unplugging the t-case, then we have an electrical gremlin to chase down.

Start there, and let us know what you find!
