4x2 to 4x4 conversion!

Okay folks. My '92 XL is a 4 door stick with a perfect, rust free body. Bad thing is that it's 2 wheel drive. Ok, what's the point of having a 2 wheel drive SUV? This can be debated, but anyway...

Ok. My plan for this winter would be to have my buddy get me a cheap first generation Ex wholesale. He deal in auctions and such. Lets say this beater will be about $500. Engine and tranny don't matter. If it burns more oil than gas, oh well. I would seriously doubt that the transfer case and front axle would be bad or borderlined.

I know that the entire front end and transfer would have to to swapped. I would go with Touch Drive. I noticed that the harness and light bulbs are already present in the dash of my 4x2. Seems like a straight swap.

Would the donor have to be a stick shift also? I mean, are there any differences in the transfer case or something? I ask cuz there are a lot more autos than manuals to pick from. Also, can I pick from 2 door, auto or sticks at all?

Ah. I just remembered that I would have to match the axle ratios. 3.73 limited slip seems to be right for me. The current 3.27 open of my 4x2 is a little too low for me.

Can you post a pic of the harness for the 4x4 buttons on the 2wd? I have never seen behind a 2wd dash panel.
